This is the Engineering and Event Blog that is maintained by the team. After each meeting one or more of the team members writes up what we did and what they enjoyed obout the meetings.

Our Third Meeting

Today was our third meeting. First, we did a round table, then we started to build arms for the robot. At lunch break we played "double jump". Then we learned how to program our robots. Overall, today was very exciting and challenging.

The Fourth Meeting

Our fourth meeting was today. Also, Bobby became an offical member. Andrew was not there either. Al and I took WALL-E apart(again!) and put him together a different way. We also added two light sensors, so it can follow lines. Then Alan tought me how to program it to use those sensors to find a line and align itself. then we did to team challenges. One was when we stood on a piece of fabric and had to flip it over without our feet touching the ground. It was hard, but we worked together really well and sucessfully completed it. After that, we had to guide a blindfolded partner through a maze of of bottles without knocking any over. Today's meeting was very fun and challenging!

Today's Meeting

Andrew and I programmed our robot to pick up the ice core sample and bring it back to base! At first we had to work on making sure the robot wouldn't run into the balls, but we got it to work and Al got a movie of it working.

The Labor Day Meeting

At this meeting Bobby and I programmed a robot (which we call wall-E) to go across the table through balls and other obstacles and collect an ice core sample and go back. This was hard and fun. We also did some teamwork challenges and played double jump. It was a fun meeting.

Lego Meeting Number 6

Today we had our 6th Lego Guards meeting. We started with a little round table time, watched  a video about the challenges, then split up into two groups. One group (consisting of Drew, Bobby, Andrew, and Aydan) took apart all the existing robots and started to build our first team robot. The other group (consisting of Al, Sam and myself) started working on some stratagies for the table. We also did some work on building some arms to accomplish the missions. Soon it was lunch time so we went outside, ate and played double-jump. Then it was time to go inside. we finished up what we had been working on and decided on some research topics. Then we went outside again and did a few teamwork challenges. It was a great meeting!!

Our Sixth Meeting

Today was the sixth meeting of the Lego Guards. First we learned the missions. Then we split up into two groups, the building group and the arm group. I wasin the building group. We built the first team robot. Then we went out side and we played double jump. When we came inside we learned the project of this year. Then we did a team work challenge.

Monday's meeting!

On Monday, we started off the day with talking about the challenges, and ideas on how we could accomplish them.  Then we talked about the weak parts and good parts of all three robots.  We did that until lunch time, and then after a fun game of double-jump, we came back in to discuss the project.  We went over what we were going to do for the challenge, then we did a really fun teamwork challenge to finish off the day.  Another good meeting!  With a good team!!

Meeting number 7: Our Second "Real Meeting"

So, today was the 7th meeting for the 2008 Lego Guards. We started with some round table time and reviewed the research that we had found during the week. Then, we voted on our main topic, which was how will less snow throughout the year affect Placer County? Then we did some really hard team challenges. Then it was lunch time. We ate and played double jump. Then we split up into groups. Al and I worked on the presentation and made up homework assignments. I had a good time and learned a lot from our research.

Our Seventh Meeting

Today was our seventh meeting. It was lots of fun. First we chose a topic. Then we did a fun team challenge. Then we had lunch and we also played double jump. Then we came inside and I finished the bycicle program. Then I started a new  mission. Over all, today was the best meeting ever!

Mondays meeting

On Monday we started with talking about ideas for wildfire prevention, and some ways to notice it earlier. Then after lunch, I worked on a robot with bobby, with help from Alan. We worked the rest of the day on that, until we had a strong well built robot, and proudly christened it Evo 1. Then we did a couple fun teamwork challenges.
