General Information
Every year the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) issues a set of challenges based around a specific topic. In 2006 it was "NanoQuest" about Nanotechnology, in 2007 it was "Power Puzzle" about sustainable energy. This year (2008) it is "Climate Connections" about global climate change.
As part of those challenges, FLL provides a 4'x8' mat and the LEGOs that are needed to build the challenge items (and the build instructions). Finally, in Mid-September they release the challenge rules and directions. This year there are 14 challenges, based around 8 or 9 types of items built entirely from LEGO.
The team's have about two and a half months (typically until early December) to design, build, and test a robot (made entirely out of LEGO products) to solve those challenges. The links on this page describes the challenges and some of the team's methodology in solving them.
