Today was our first meeting of the season. The first thing we did was watch a demonstration of last year's challenges. Then we got to work, destroying the old robots and sorting all the pieces. After that, we did some team building activities. Then we had a building challenge: to build a bridge that could span the distance between two tables and hold a certain amount of weight. And do it in 8 minutes. I was really pressed  for time and a didn't do a very good job, so mine bridge collapsed, but some of the bridges were really cool!

Not a good job? only sort of!

Your bridge only collapsed after it worked, when I pushed it off the table!

Actually, with the limitations given (time, old Legos, etc), and with no idea what was going to be judged I think that EVERYONE did a good job of building their bridge. They ALL worked, and although some were more elegant, some were simpler, and some were more innovative than others, I'll take a working unit over a non-working unit any day of the week!
